The Russo-Ukrainian War began in 2014 following Russia's annexation of Crimea and the outbreak of conflict in Donbas. It dramatically escalated on February 24, 2022, when Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The war has caused tens of thousands of deaths, the largest refugee crisis in Europe since World War II, and widespread destruction of Ukrainian infrastructure. It has also led to significant global political and economic repercussions, including extensive sanctions against Russia and increased military aid to Ukraine.
